Save Winning Coffee

For anyone in town, you already know about the dust-up over the Albuquerque Rapid Transit project on Central Ave.

For you out-of-owners: the city decided to undertake a ginormous, hugely disruptive construction project on our main corridor, Central Ave. (Rt. 66). Winning Coffee is just half a block off of Central. The construction is so bad that not only are people avoiding the whole area for traffic reasons, but students, teachers and workers at the University (on the opposite side of Central from our place), can’t safely cross the street.

Result is that our coffeehouse is underwater for the first time in two decades.

We told our staff everything that’s going on, and that it looked like we were going to have to sell or shutter. They weren’t having any of it. They basically said, we’ll just get a bunch of money and outlast this.

So we’re now doing a fundraising campaign on Indiegogo.com, (which is a website that helps you do fundraising). We also have a block party in the works to try to help other places too. Everyone’s getting hammered by this disruption.

Anyhoo, if you could check out our Indiegogo page (there’s a 2 1/2 minute video that explains things), that would be great. If you feel like kicking in, that would be great too, but don’t feel obligated. Biggest thing is to spread this far and wide so that if lot’s of people give five bucks — it still adds up to saving our butts.

Never done this before, here goes…
